The Town of Kamsack is seeking individuals for the following positions:

Manager of Recreation and Community Development

The Town of Kamsack is seeking a dynamic leader to join our team as the Manager of Recreation and Community Development.

 

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), you will be part of a management team tasked with specific responsibility to ensure quality recreational, sport, heritage and cultural facilities, programs and services are available for the residents of the Town of Kamsack.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure recreational facilities are maintained in order to ensure a safe, clean and appropriate environment for recreational activities. Facilities include the Broda Sportsplex, Sportsgrounds (including ball diamonds, soccer field and disc golf course), Swimming Pool, Skate-park, OCC Hall, Walking Trail and Playgrounds.
  • Develops and manages a comprehensive program of sports, recreational and cultural activities are available for all community members.
  • Builds relationships with the various community and non-profit groups within Kamsack and the region and represents the Town at various meetings and on select boards.
  • Responsible for building a broad and effective communications network for the Town of Kamsack including website, social media and various advertising streams.
  • Administers the Saskatchewan Lotteries Community Grant Program and assists with other grant opportunities, including seeking them out.
  • Manages the administrative functions for the Recreation Department.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in disciplines such as recreation management, sports administration or related areas of study.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing and supervising staff teams.
  • Strong management, motivational and interpersonal communication skills coupled with excellent administrative and organizational skills are
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative manner with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Must be able to plan and adhere to deadlines.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license and clean driving abstract.

2026 Pool Staff

The Kamsack Swimming Pool

requires the following staff for the 2026 season:

 

POOL MANAGER

Requirements:
  • 3 Years Aquatic Experience
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (NLC)
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor Certificate (LSI)
  • Water Safety Instructor Certificate (WSI)
  •  Aquatic Emergency Care
  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C”, Swimming Pool Operators Course
Responsibilities: 
  • Ensure quality programs and services are available at the pool.
  • Enforce policies and procedures, which ensure efficient and effective operation of the facility including personnel supervision, management, payroll and training.
  • Coordinate programs, staffing, pool maintenance and cleaning.
  • Perform chemical testing and analysis to ensure the pool water is balanced to the requirements of Public Health.
  • Ensure the facility is shut down and secured at the end of each day.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Recreation Director.

ASSISTANT POOL MANAGER

Requirements: 
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (NL)
  • Lifesaving Society Instructor Certificate (LSI)
  • Water Safety Instructor Certificate (WSI)
  • Aquatic Emergency Care
  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C”
  • Swimming Pool Operators Course
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor public activities in and around the swimming pool
  • Ensure adherence to rules and safety regulations
  • Perform rescues, artificial respiration and first aid as required
  • Organize and implement the Lifesaving Society lessons
  • Perform pool maintenance and facility maintenance as required
  • Water quality maintenance
  • Have knowledge of the chemical and filter operations and maintenance
  • Supervision of other staff will be required
  • Assisting in event planning
  • All aspects of the start-up and shut down of the swimming pool as shared with pool manager
  • Other duties as assigned by the Pool Manager/Recreation Director

INSTRUCTORS

Multiple Positions available

Requirements
  • National Lifeguard Certificate (NL)
  • Water Safety Instructor Certificate (WSI)
  • Aquatic Emergency Care
  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C”
Responsibilities:
  • Monitor public activities in and around the swimming pool
  • Ensure adherence to rules and safety regulations
  • Perform rescues, artificial respiration and first aid as required
  • Prepare lesson plans and instruct lessons
  • Perform pool maintenance and facility maintenance as required
  • Have knowledge of the chemical and filter operations and maintenance
  • Perform Water quality checks as needed
  • Some supervision of other staff may be required
  • Assist in lesson and event planning under Recreation Director or the Pool Manager
  • Have Knowledge of cash reports and staffing requirements is a must.

Hours Full Time and Part Time

 

LIFEGUARDS

Multiple positions available

Requirements
  • Bronze Cross
  • Aquatic Emergency Care
  • Standard First Aid and CPR “C”

NLS Certificate is considered an asset

Responsibilities
  • Monitor public activities in and around the swimming pool
  • Ensure adherence to rules and safety regulations
  • Perform rescues, artificial respiration and first aid as required
  • Basic pool maintenance and facility maintenance must be performed as required.

 

Salary Based on certifications and experience
Hours  Part Time

           

GUARDS

Multiple Positions

Requirements:
  • Between 14 and 16 years of age
  • Bronze Cross
  • Young Worker Readiness Certificate Course (if under 16 years of age)
  • Standard First Aid
Requirements
  • Monitor public activities in and around the swimming pool
  • Ensure adherence to rules and safety regulations
  • Basic pool maintenance and facility maintenance must be performed as required.
